Our Alumni have performed with the following distinguished Ballet and Modern Dance Companies: San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Dayton, American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Ballet San Jose, Pennsylvania, Pacific Northwest, Mark Morris, Ballet Magnificat!, David Taylor Dance Theatre, LEVYdance, Ballet Nouveau, and Richmond Ballet. Many others have gone on to dance successfully in Broadway Shows. Catharine Grow - Soloist - Ballet San Jose, began her ballet training with Janice Lee at age 7, and attended Summer Dance Programs with North Carolina School of the Arts, School of American Ballet and Hartford Ballet. She began her professional career in 1995 with the Milwaukee Ballet Company and in 1996 joined Cleveland/San Jose Ballet. Other credits include "Tango Dancer" in the movie RENT. Catherine retired in 2010. www.balletsanjose.org  Catharine Grow at age 17, Butterfly in “The Nutcracker” Brooke Gessay - LEVYdance, studied ballet under Janice Lee from the age of 7 and modern dance under Carol Mead. Summer Dance Program attended was the Joffrey Workshop. She has traveled to Vietnam, China, and Italy to do culture exchange through dance, and has performed with Weird Al Yankovic, Malashock Dance, and the San Diego Opera. Brooke joined LEVYdance in 2004. www.levydance.org  Brooke Gessay, at age 12, our first Clara in “The Nutcracker” Alyssa Alexander - Soloist - Ballet Magnificat!, started ballet training with Janice Lee at the age of 11. Summer Dance Programs attended were Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Vail, Colorado, ABT in Detroit, Michigan. In 2001, Alyssa entered the Ballet Magnificat! Trainee Program and was promoted to Apprentice in August 2003 and to the company in August 2004. Alyssa retired in 2010. www.balletmagnificat.com  Alyssa Alexander, 2008 Ballet Magnificat! Lauren Slater - started ballet training with Janice Lee at the age of 6 and modern dance under Carol Mead. Summer Dance Programs attended were The Rock, Kirov Academy and Ballet Met. She is a guest artist with Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater and formerly danced several seasons with the San Francisco modern dance company, LEVYdance. Lauren is a Yoga instructor at the Yoga Tree in San Francisco.  Lauren Slater in “Twins” 2009, Jean Isaac San Diego Dance Theatre Photographer Manny Rottenberg Morgan Matayoshi - started ballet training with Janice Lee at the age 11. Summer Dance Program attended, was with Milwaukee Ballet. She has performed in many North County Youth productions and several Broadway Musicals in the Los Angeles area, and in San Diego Starlights “High School Musical”. Morgan is the Dance Captain and a Cast member in the touring company of the 2008 Tony Awards Best Musical winner “In the Heights”.  Morgan Matayoshi at age 16, Spanish in “The Nutcracker” Jennifer Ingle Grund - started ballet training with Janice Lee at the age of 5. Summer Dance Programs attended were North Carolina School of the Arts, Boston Ballet and in Budapest, Hungary. She was a member of the Dayton Ballet Company for 17 years, dancing many solo roles and retired Spring, 2009.
